Hema
Pokharna, Ph.D. is a scientist, educator, international speaker,
trainer, author, mediator, coach and director of Journeys of Life:
A program to promote health, wholeness and disease prevention. Hema
has also received extensive training at Gestalt Institute of Cleveland,
the Center for Nonviolent Communication, and the Focusing Institute
including other trainings in Alternatives to Violence, Conflict
resolution and Mediation.
Hema’s
approach insures that the audience becomes an active participant
in learning, rather than passive recipients of information. Employing
anecdotal stories, role-plays, fun learning activities and audience
participation to achieve maximum involvement, the skills Hema teachs
can be immediately put into practice. Her engaging style and humorous
approach are designed to stimulate creativity and compassion.

Dr. Mandakini Pokharna |
Nonviolent
Communication trainings are taught with Mandakini Pokharna, M.D.
Mandakini is specialized in internal medicine, and practices medicine
in Chicago. She met Marshall Rosenberg and , also trained with him
at the Center for Nonviolent Communication since 1990 . She is also
trained at the the Focusing institute. She incorporates nonviolent
communication and focusing skills in her medical practice. Mandakini
has been offering non-violent communication co-trainings with her
sister Hema since 1996. |

Both
Hema and Mandakini came to the United States
from India. Together they have created and taught inspiring and
lively workshops around the world introducing the audience to
the basic skills and concepts of compassionate communication.
Their workshops use a variety of practical and innovative techniques
including lecture, discussion, role-playing, and story telling.
The workshop is designed to stimulate thought, creativity and
connection.
